REMEMBER Survivor, a popular reality television game show in which contestants are isolated in the wilderness to compete for cash and other prizes?

The show uses a progressive elimination, allowing the contestants to vote off a tribe member, until only one final contestant remains and wins the title of “Sole Survivor”.

Well, Hanifah Hernandez, Xena Bantarizah and Grace Nakate, group of enterprising Ugandans living in the Diaspora and under the Cultural Education Organisation, have come up with something similar but called Muvabulaya.

It is an essentially cultural show whose entertainment value will largely be derived from the cultural shock effect from Ugandans born in the Diaspora trying to do things that are Ugandan.

Twelve people, six of them Ugandans living here, will be whisked off to an unspecified location for 31 days with cameras following them 24/7.

Winners will be chosen depending on how well they execute tasks like hunting and knitting. Prizes include holidays to resorts here and abroad and cash prizes.
The first auditions are on in Gulu this weekend.
