Second, I want to say that we were discussing a woman called Lucy (Happy Women’s Day, Lucy) and all those women in her league who grab their husbands by their balls and drag them along. And we concluded, after a heated argument that, well, they are many and increasing.
You wonder, what business do tax-paying adults have discussing fellow men’s wives? It began when this lady, revelling with us, lost her cool and told her husband to keep quiet and withdraw from the discussion or else…. The discussion, as I said, was about hen-pecked men. Mr 40-year-old kept quiet – like a bulb which has been switched off.
We may all be controlled at one time or another but those are files kept under secret folders accessed only with a restricted password. But when it spills over to society, it exposed the couple to ridicule because society was not brought up to understand these things.
Unfortunately, some women have no problem broadcasting their superiority in the home at fora that range from church meetings to women talk in salons. “If my husband did forget to butter my bread at breakfast, ssha, I would throw him out of the bed/house†or whatever it is that powerful women throw their fearful husbands out of.
I must say that in this part of the world, several Women’s Days later, it is not laudable for a woman to brag that she is the boss. When your hubby is ridiculed as a dog, don’t you feel like a bitch? A respectable woman maintains her husband’s status and in turn he elevates her respect in public. It is a vicious circle of respect.
But, as a controlling woman, you break down your husband’s confidence little by little until he believes he is nothing without you.
It may sound a good strategy but the aftermath will leave you wondering whether the guy in bed with you is a man or a lesbian! That man who is conditioned into keeping mum to ‘keep the peace’ will continue with the same strategy even for situations where you don’t want peace like when you find a snake on your bed or, worse still, when you want hot sex that night.
As for the men, don’t just be there and expect respect. You must deserve it. You don’t when you crawl home filthy drunk and dirty, chase after house girls, steal money from your wife’s bag and run for the hills when a cockroach is spotted in the house. Stand up and be a man!
Women can only control a man who allows himself to be controlled. She finds herself compelled to make all family decisions because it takes you dog years to decide on anything. And when you finally do, it is a wrong choice.
I know there are women born with Lucy’s amount of testosterone. And it is not their fault, they just need a more charismatic guy. If you are not, you should have found out her character during your dating. If you went ahead to marry her, shape up or ship out. Let me leave you to enjoy your Women’s Day.
