KENYAN Peter Horsey, in a buggy, put up a flawless display in the MOSAC sprint to become the first winner at the new Nalugala Jomayi Beach racing circuit on Entebbe Road.

Horsey, who acquired a Ugandan competition license last season, clocked six minutes in two runs to claim victory.
Riyaz Kurji proved he is still a force to reckon with, matching Horsey’s pace, but his time was not competitive having entered the race as a guest driver.

The 18-year-old Shafiq Ssemuju was in top form, clocking 6.17 minutes to snatch second position. It was the fifth outing for the Valid Electronics sponsored rookie driver.

Rose Lwakataka, coming off a crash in the Southern Motor Club rally last month, was third, 20 seconds off the pace.
Another female driver Laila Mayanja, in a Mitsubishi Evo4, was fourth, a further five seconds adrift.

Ahmed Ashraf, a medical doctor who took to the sport last season, was sixth while Vincent Kibudde and Albert Katanyi finished seventh and eighth respectively. Peter Kakaire, a prominent rally fan, made his debut in a Toyota Celica, clocking 11.15.

Ronald Ssebuguzi rolled his Mitsubishi Evo4 while Leonard Bagarukayo and Isa Nyanzi were dogged by mechanical problems.

The sprint, organised by Motorsport Africa (MOSAC) was sponsored by Jomayi Property Consultants, Club East Enders, Fire and Safety Appliances, Life and Property Security and TLC.
