A dramatic day of Super League and Kakungulu Cup action yesterday ended with Police dropping two crucial points, KCC and URA humiliated, and Riot Police in action— this time against soccer fans.

It was a frustrating day for Police and Express fans as the cops settled for a goalless draw at Wankulukuku.

Express fans poured on the pitch at the end of the game before attacking security officials, prompting a Police officer to draw a pistol as the fans pelted him with stones.

The Riot Police moved to restrain the unidentified officer in time as they showered the stadium with teargas.

In Kakindu, champions
URA’s were exposed by Victors, who inflicted further misery on them with a 2-0 Super League defeat.
Ismael Kazibwe and Simon Sserunkuuma scored to hand the tax collectors their third consecutive league loss.

URA received another blow when referee Mohammed Segonga dismissed winger Dan Waguluka for a second bookable offence. The winger will miss URA’s next game against Villa on Friday.

In the Kakungulu Cup, Villa and Kinyara booked quarterfinal places after ejecting Jogoo Young and KCC respectively in second round games.

Goalkeeper Musa Lukungu stopped Owen Kasule’s spot-kick as Kinyara ejected KCC 5-3 on penalties in Masindi. Regulation time had ended goalless.
At Namboole stadium, Stephen Bengo netted a hat-trick while Jeremiah Ssebuyiira and Mike Azira added the other goals as Sports Club Villa ejected their junior side Jogoo Young from the Cup.

Villa await the winner between URA and Kamwokya on a date yet to be fixed while Kinyara face either Simba, Express or Boroboro, who are yet to play their first and second round games.

+Coach Isa Isabirye faces a delicate test against his former player George Otika when Maji FC play Boroboro in Lira today. Otika, who was at Maji in 2005, is now Boroboro’s coach.

“We have to win and increase the gap between us and Boroboro. Football is all about getting the tactics right and we are ready,” Isabirye said. Maji and Boroboro played to a 1-1 draw in the first round.

Iganga host struggling Maroons as the prisons' side welcome back head coach Asaph Tuwebaze from a four-match FUFA suspension. A win is a must if they are to fight relegation.
