AN army deserter shot dead four people, seriously injured two others and set ablaze 30 huts in Nginyanginya village, Ogur sub-county in Lira district.

Lira Police Station head Cosmas Ruganzu, said Dennis Ogal run amok on Sunday night and also shot dead eight cows before fleeing.

He added that Ogal had been on the run following an earlier incident in which he reportedly killed one person.

According to Ruganzu, property worth millions of shillings was lost in the fire. The injured, Rose Auma and Miriam Adong, have been admitted to Ogur Health Centre.

He identified the dead as Tom Ongom, the village LC1 chairman, Florence Odyang, Immaculate Adong and Christine Aol.

“We have been looking for him (Ogal) all along,” Ruganzu said on Monday.

He blamed the village residents for hiding Ogal.

A joint security team led by Lira Police chief Raymond Otim, is hunting for Ogal who is said to be heading towards Pader.
