KENYAN David Odhiambo and Rwandan Emmanuel Ruterana take on a host of Ugandans in the sh6m Uganda Professional Golfers Association (UPGA) tournament that tees off this morning.

The 54-hole tournament, which is one of the activities to mark 100 years of Uganda Golf Club, will see the winner take home sh2m, the biggest cash prize this season.

The two-day tournament that will have professionals play 36 holes each day is sponsored by Ultimate Security.

Ruterana and Odhiambo, who regularly compete in UPGA events, pose a major threat to the local stars because they are no strangers to the par 72 Kitante course.

UPGA captain Deo Akope, fresh from the Kenya Open in which he narrowly failed to make the cut is ready for the foreign challenge.

Ugandans Amos Kamya, Stephen Kasaija, Godfrey Mande, Stephen Birungi, Denis Anguyo, Dickson Lagoro, Herman Mutawe and Sadi Atibu will also battle for a piece of the sh6m.

The week-long celebrations will climax with the historic two-day Centennial tournament that tees off on Friday.
