FORMER head of legal affairs in FUFA Fred Muwema has bounced back into football administration by joining the SC Villa executive. Muwema, who will be head of legal and compliance, and Vincent Waiswa Bagiire head of commercial and marketing, have been tasked to professionalise and rebrand Villa and to streamline the club’s youth structures.

“After serving Ugandan football at national level, I now welcome the challenge to serve one of the better known clubs in the East African region and one that has had an impressive push for honours at continental level,” Muwema said in his acceptance speech in Kampala yesterday.

The two new administrators where unveiled at a press conference attended by the club’s chairman Franco Mugabe, the club’s patron Balamaze Lwanga, team manager Chris Mubiru, former club treasurer Omar Mandela, club secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu and other executive members.

“We are going to embark on a strategic five-year programme of rebranding and attracting corporate sponsors to the club,” Bagiire said.

“Our target is to attract two formidable corporate sponsors for the club every two years. Our other challenge is to attract fans back to the stadiums.”

The strategy is to turn the 17 time league champion into a professionally managed club. They aim to generate funds for it through registration of supporters.
