CROWN Beverages yesterday raised the Bombers’ hopes of qualifying for the Beijing Olympics with a donation of sh10m.

CROWN Beverages yesterday raised the Bombers’ hopes of qualifying for the Beijing Olympics with a donation of sh10m.
The boxing association needs sh 35m to send a team to the African qualifiers due in Namibia next week.
The timely offer was handed over by Pepsi-Cola brand manager Leo Kizito to Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) vice president Ntege Ssengendo at Lugogo.
Pepsi-Cola also handed a similar amount to Uganda Athletics Federation president Dan Tamwesigire for the Africa Championship due in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia next month.
The package is from a Crown Beverage fundraising drive that was launched to help Ugandan teams prepare for the Olympics.
For boxers, the amount will cover training costs in the residential camp, two air tickets and full board accommodation for two boxers.
UABF plans to send five fighters plus Cuban coach Jaminez Gonzalez for the Namibia qualifiers.
“We are now desperate. We kindly appeal to other companies to come and rescue Ugandan boxing,†pleaded UABF acting secretary Charles Kiiza.
