DRUGS worth sh60m meant for various health centres in Kibaale district have remained undistributed in Kagadi Hospital stores.

The district authorities on Monday held an emergency meeting where the hospital administrators were grilled over the accumulated stock and other reported cases of mismanagement.

The storekeeper, Sarah Nassali, explained that the drugs had not been distributed because the institution did not have a vehicle to do the deliveries.

According to the LC5 chairman, George Namyaka, some administrators were to blame for the state of affairs.

“The Government is committed to supplying drugs to all health centres in the district but some unscrupulous workers hoard the drugs. We shall not tolerate that,” he said.

Namyaka directed the district health officer, Dr. Dan Kyamanywa, to effect the recommended transfers of various medical staff from the hospital to other health centres to streamline the operations,
The meeting resolved to ask the Police to set up a post at the hospital to stem the cases of theft. Last week, 60 solar panels disappeared from the laboratory.
