IT took Microsoft five years to unveil their own version of iPod known as the Microsoft Zune after a long study of the market. Microsoft seamlessly integrated many functions and added unique features to its sleek and light Zune digital media player that would make you throw away your i-Pod in an instance.
This slim Microsoft Zune has an FM radio tuner which the i-Pod does not have. With the tuner, be sure to listen to several local radio stations in your area by mere scrolling.
The Zune comes with a three-inch diagonal larger screen compared with 2.5 inches for iPod. That half-inch difference is really a big deal when you are watching a movie on such a small screen. More so, Microsoft has taken advantage of the screen size by implementing horizontal video orientation.
With this, the user can turn the device 90 degrees when watching a movie to make use of the wide Zune screen. Ashraf Zeon 20, a student at Rainbow International School in Kansanga says: “With the Zune’s streamlined navigation system, it is preferred by most of his friends since it takes less screen changes and fewer button presses to get to the files they want to access or to playback, unlike the i-pod’s click wheel buttons.â€
With its powerful built-in Wi-Fi file sharing function, one can exchange music files, podcasts and videos with another Zune owner in a distance of 30 feet (10 metres).
However, this wireless connection does not offer connection to a Computer or any other gadget for syncing. So one has to use the USB cable to link the PC and their Zunes just like the iPods.
Microsoft’s Zune is compartible with microsoft’s windows XP/ 2000.
