ANGRY employees of Energo Projekt, a Serbian firm currently repairing a section of the Kampala-Gulu road, yesterday set ablaze a trailer belonging to Mukwano Group of Companies.

This was after the trailer collided with a tractor, killing one of the employees who was driving the tractor at the construction site, near Wobulenzi town in Luweero district.

The incident occurred at around 9:30am at Busula village, 27 miles from Kampala.
The Police, who arrived at the scene a few minutes later, fired bullets in the air to disperse the tool-wielding and enraged workers who wanted to lynch the driver of the trailer. Jimmy Kizito and the unidentified turn boy escaped narrowly from the mob.

The deceased identified as Ntege, died instantly, while the tractor was reduced to mangled metal. After the collision, the trailer, a Benz, swerved off the road before landing in a trench where the workers set it ablaze.

Traffic came to a standstill as the employees cordoned off part of the road in an attempt to block firefighters from saving the vehicle. The cabin and six tyres were reduced to ashes.

The Mukwano Industries fleet manager, who only identified himself as Babu, said the trailer was returning from DR Congo where it had delivered soap. The Police said the driver of the trailer was speeding.
