CHAMPIONS uganda telecom Kobs face off with MTN Heathens in an epic encounter that could determine the 2008 Guinness Super 8 Rugby League title.

With only the top three teams in serious title contention, Kobs who are four points clear of second placed Heathens will close in on the title if their seven-match winning streak goes unchecked.
Heathens captain Brian Tabaruka has described the tie as a “league decider.”

“We must win to keep the title race open. If they beat us again they will certainly be champions. We are well prepared, we don't want to talk much about the game, we will sort it out on the pitch,” Tabaruka remarked.

The Heathens squad has been boosted by the return of Dennis Mulo and Romano Ogwal from an injury layoff.

Kobs coach Fred Mudoola has an injury-free squad but is terribly disturbed by the choice of referee. Ramsey Olinga who has strong links with Pirates will handle the match.

“Ramsey has a big stake in this game because if Heathens win, Pirates will be back in the title race. A referee can have a big influence in a game,” Mudoola charged.

“If we are to lose this game we want to lose honourably. Otherwise the team is ready for the showdown.”

Edmund Tumusiime and Ronnie Lutakome have recovered from injury and will rejoin the team.

Pirates host Rhinos at the same venue while Impis travel to Entebbe to take on Mongers. Buffaloes will be in Jinja against Nile.
