EDITOR—I have been reading in the press and listening on radio people’s opinions about who owns land in uganda. The most contentious land ownership is in central uganda.

History has it that people would migrate from their cradle largely because they needed large expanses of land for agriculture. the Bantu from Katanga and even the pastoralist Luo, needed large tracts of land.

According to the migration and settlement theory therefore, the current inhabitants of uganda are not the original inhabitants because they simply migrated to those areas.

For example, the Batagwenda and the Banyaruguru in Nkore areas are Baganda who migrated from Buganda, when two Buganda princes were fighting for the vacant throne. since then, they have peacefully settled in Nkore. The agents of ethnicity should understand our history better.
