KIBAALE-Joseph Bulihaihi, 22, suspected to have murdered his father in February, was lynched by a mob in Bwamiramira sub-county. The Police crime chief, Michael Ogwal, said the incident occurred on Sunday. Bulihaihi and his two brothers, who were also lynched in February, allegedly killed their father, Peter Kyeyune. They accused him of refusing to give them part of the money raised from the sale of waragi, a local potent gin. Ogwal cautioned residents against mob justice, saying it was illegal.

‘Women vital in democracy’

KISORO-Women play a big role in shaping democracy through change of leadership by secret ballot, the deputy resident district commissioner, Gideon Ahebwa, has said. He made the remarks during the International Women’s Day celebrations last week. He urged men to value and recognise women’s contributions towards development.

Woman raped, killed

NTUNGAMO-The Police have arrested a man suspected to have raped and killed a 25-year-old woman, Anne Komwiru. Willy Byaruhanga allegedly committed the offences last Wednesday at Kyabukuju village. The crime chief, David Mwesigwa, said Komwiru’s body was recovered from the roadside.

Medics warned

KIBAALE-The district health officer, Dr. Dan Kyamanywa, has warned medical workers against misusing government vehicles and motorcycles. He observed that some health workers lend government property to people who do not work for the district. Kyamanywa made the remarks on Friday while addressing the district health management committee at Kagadi Hospital.
