BOXING - African welterweight champion Hassan “The Hitman” Saku lost his second fight of the year when he was was out-pointed by Dane Allan Vester in, Aarhus, Denmark on Friday. In a closely contested six rounder non-title fight, the Ugandan fighter lost a unanimous points decision with judge Freddy Christensen scoring 54-59 to Vester, Per Malmberg scored 53-60 for Vester and Ove Ovesen scored 56-58 to Vester. The defeat for Stockholm-based Saku comes after falling to Estonian Albert Starikov.

USPA protests
GENERAL - Uganda Sports Press Association members will at their monthly meeting today at Lugogo come out with a response to attempts to deny them direct access to stadia especially when international games are held at Nakivubo and Namboole. USPA president Douglas Mazune said yesterday that the scribes' body would agree on the way forward to avoid further ill-treatment of their members by football club officials.

GKL gets 400

SOCCER - THE Kids League Gulu has attracted over 400 hundred children from all the leading schools in the town. Boys have registered for football while girls have enrolled for netball respectively that starts on April 12. The tournament is to run for six weeks at Acholi War Memorial Pece Stadium.
The coordinator, Richard Mali said sixty teachers were trained to coach the children in several age groups. The best players will qualify to compete in Kampala.
