KUNDHAVI Kadiresan is the World Bank’s new Uganda manager effective this month. A statement issued on April 2 said Kadiresan has replaced Grace Yabrudy, who served for four years.

She arrived in the country on March 31. She joined the bank in 1993 as an economist in the Agriculture Operations Division.

Kadiresan said one of her priorities would be to build on her predecessor’s work to implement the Uganda Joint Assistance Strategy.

“This is an important period in Uganda as it moves to the next level in its development agenda. I am excited to be here. I look forward to working closely with the Government and key country stakeholders on a broad range of policy and implementation issues anchored in the Poverty Eradication Action Plan and developed within the framework of the country partners’ Joint Assistance Strategy for Uganda,” Kadiresan said.

She has held various positions with the bank, with her most recent assignment being operations and portfolio manager for Indonesia in east Asia and the Pacific.

Kadiresan holds a PhD in Economics and an MBA in International Business.
She will address a public- private partnership forum organised by the World Bank Institute and the Uganda Investment Authority at the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo on April 3-4.
