SUPER League table leaders Police FC are in Arua for a tricky game against stubborn Ediofe Hills.
Police has reason to worry about giant killers Ediofe, who boast of a strong home record. The Arua soccer side, led by Cranes striker Ceasar Okhuti, have lost only three games at their Inzikuru stadium this season.
Only Iganga, Bunamwaya and Masaka have managed to beat Ediofe in their backyard. None of the Kampala giants has picked maximum points in Arua.
Sam Timbe’s Police must defy this Ediofe home record to stave off pressure from SC Villa in the title race.
The Joogos, with a game in hand, are just six points behind Police.
Cranes’ teenage striker Okhuti was released from the U-20 camp to fill his school exam forms in Arua, and will be on hand to lead Ediofe’s attack. The Arua side needs maximum points to ease their relegation worries.
After faltering with several draws last month, the cops have won their last two games and should be able to ride on the momentum to close in on the title.
Meanwhile, Villa will leave nothing to chance when they host relegation-threatened side CRO at Namboole today.
“CRO is not a weak team and have improved a lot in the second round. We need to win all our games if we are to think about winning the title,†Villa assistant coach Ibrahim Kirya stated.
Boroboro, that lies at the edge of the drop zone, will certainly be a hard nut to crack for Romanian Dorian Marin’s Nalubaale in Lira.
In the Kakungulu Cup, struggling URA take on little known Kamwokya Leopards at Namboole.
* Tanzania’s national soccer team coach Marcio Maximo has appealed to the national soccer governing body TFA to lift a six month ban on Yanga goalkeeper Ivo Mapunda, saying the player was an asset Taifa Stars would need to beat Cranes in the first leg of the Africa Nations Cup in Dar es Salaam on May 4.
Mapunda is serving a ban imposed on him by the Yanga management for indiscipline after he sneaked out of their training camp.
