The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Kamalesh Sharma has met President Yoweri Museveni, the chairman.

The two discussed the implementation of resolutions of last year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kampala.

These included transforming societies for political, economic and human development, protecting the environment and dealing with the consequences of climate change and promoting the reform of international institutions.

According to a statement from the Commonwealth Secretariat, Museveni and Sharma also discussed developments in Pakistan and Fiji.

“A lot can be done through the power of the Commonwealth and its credibility to build strong institutions that promote democracy and development,” Sharma said.
