AN on-form Robert Ssentongo could be the man to power KCC FC to the summit of the Super League table, when his Lugogo outfit takes on Maji this morning at Nakivubo.

The chase for this season’s title has become interesting and turned into a three-horse race with leaders Police FC and record champions SC Villa the other contenders. The teams are left with less than six games to play, though KCC have played one less than their rivals.

Coach George Nsimbe’s side has amassed seven consecutive wins, with Ssentongo registering braces in their last two outings. If they can reproduce that form tomorrow against relegation threatened Maji, they are likely to replace Police at the top of the league table, who play again on Wednesday, .

If KCC is to enjoy some time at the top, it could be short-lived with Villa hosting Boroboro in a late league match at Namboole.

Boroboro, who are also not yet safe from relegation, had the wrath of reigning champions URA on Saturday, with a 6-0 thrashing at Namboole.

Martin Muwanga and Robert Okello each registered a brace for the taxmen, with Cranes midfielder Johnson Bagoole and Ismail Kigozi adding one each.

Stephen Bengo, who saw Villa down rivals Express with his trade mark free kick, will be back in the Jogoos midfield against the Lira-based side at Namboole.

It the Villa Park side register a win today, they are assured of leading the proceedings for at least 48 hours, until Police play on Wednesday.

At Nakivubo, Bunamwaya hosts Ceaser Okhuti’s Ediofe Hills, who are the Arua side rooted deep in the relegation zone.

Bruno Olobo, meanwhile, scored his 14th Super League goal as Simba FC further moved away from the relegation zone with a 1-0 win over Nalubaale at Nakivubo yesterday.

Olobo headed home a well executed Dan Ssebuliba cross in the 11th minute before Simba withdrew to defend the lead and give coach Sam Ssimbwa a third consecutive win.

The win ensured Simba, which was two weeks ago threatened with relegation, is now 12th ahead of Maji, Masaka, Ediofe, CRO, Biharwe and Maroons on the 18-team league table with five games to go.
