GULU Kick-Boxing Club caused an upset in the Uganda Kick-Boxing League when they beat leaders UPDF 20-13 at Tee-Okono Recreational Centre at Kaunda Ground in Gulu on Sunday.

Only seven out of the eight bouts were held after UPDF’s cruiserweight Titus Tugume (82kg) got a walk over since Gulu had no opponent in that weight.

Uganda Kick Boxing Federation (UKBF) president Hassan Ssekirime presided over the tournament.

He said UKBF had organised the competition countrywide on a regional basis.

“We started at Bombo barracks, now we are in Gulu for the northern region. We will continue to Lugogo for central, Iganga for eastern thenback to Bombo for the finals,” Ssekirime revealed.

UPDF is still on top with 29 points, followed by Gulu on 22. Pentagon Natete is third with 11 points. Iganga has eight points, while both Powerflex (Mpundu) and Powerflex (Mengo) are on six points each.
