EDITOR—I am disappointed with fellow Canadian Autumn Kelly for renouncing her Catholic faith so that her future husband Peter Phillips, Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest grandson, can keep his place in the royal line of succession. When Jesus proclaimed. “upon this rock I build my church†he did not mean King Henry VIII but Peter the first Pope.
The Catholic Church is thus the only church today that can be traced directly back to Christ, The Messianic King, whose coming was foretold in Jewish Scripture. All other Christian denominations are defective in the sense (and to the degree) that they have arbitrarily chosen to sever themselves from Catholic belief.
This radical decentralisation of truth which has expressed itself over the years in various forms and Christian denominations such as Anglicanism means not a turning toward Christ but a turning toward oneself, that is, the people.
This is confirmed by the recent acceptance of women priests and homosexuality within the Anglican communion. This is also how the Soviet Union began, with a ‘people’s democracy’ that was simply a lie.
It is time for Britain to repeal the discriminatory 1701 Act of Settlement which prejudicially and immorally bars British monarchs and their heirs from becoming or marrying Catholics.
