I enjoyed my date but the guy was an American wannabe in head gear, bling-bling chain and funky talk. He called waitresses ‘sister’, girls ‘dame’, friends ‘Charlie’ and was talking to me like we had met before!

I enjoyed my date but the guy was an American wannabe in head gear, bling-bling chain and funky talk. He called waitresses ‘sister’, girls ‘dame’, friends ‘Charlie’ and was talking to me like we had met before! A few minutes into the date, it began to rub me the wrong way; I didn’t think he was doing it well. But I gave him good company.
Let us focus on the good.
Well, he was not so talkative – I hate talkative people. He also told me a few sweet words – that I looked beautiful - we girls love nice words.
What didn’t you not like?
It took me time to prepare for the date and what does he do? He comes with some weird head gear. I wished he had dressed smart. He was almost an hour late. He told me his name was ‘Master’ and that his friends gave it to him because of his lifestyle. He is a beautician. But I did not like his style and I doubt if my friends would. To me, class matters a lot.
Did you talk about love?
He told me he liked me and would like us to go far. He asked for my number and I gave it to him.
So, are you going out again?
I would as long as we don’t discuss love. My ideal date should be well groomed. I can’t even show him to my friends unless he agrees to talk better or keep quiet. I know he could be a good boy but that may take time to prove.

I was caught up by time and I arrived at Choma a bit late. I found the lady eagerly waiting. She seemed happy to see me because she welcomed me with a lovely smile. She even pulled a chair for me. I knew my evening had worked out.
Were you impressed?
Oh yes. She was indeed a nice lady, smart, beautiful and spoke so well. When I sat next to her, I felt I had landed on the right person.
What exactly did you talk about?
She told me that she is a film actress and I like women who have something to do. So, I promised to sponsor her in every way possible. She welcomed the idea and promised to visit my place of work.
Did you talk about love?
Not really. Though I was taken up, I couldn’t ask for love. That is not how things are supposed to be. I have to take time before I say anything concerning love. Since she promised to meet me again, I will be patient and see how things go. Then I will know what to do next.
Do you have plans of taking her out again?
Yes I do but that is if she shows interest. But, up to now (three days later), she has neither called me nor visited my place of work, yet she took my number. I did not take her number because she had promised to visit me the following day and I thought I would get it then.
Anything you didn’t like about her?
The lady spent a lot of time answering calls. Her phone was busy almost throughout and so, we got little time to talk about important issues. Her insensitivity left me bored.
