Use your energy profitably, Mrs. Museveni tells youth

THE youth should not underrate their potential to overcome poverty given their energy, First Lady Janet Museveni has counselled.

THE youth should not underrate their potential to overcome poverty given their energy, First Lady Janet Museveni has counselled, reports Raymond Baguma.

Mrs. Museveni, who is the Ruhaama MP, made the remarks on Saturday while launching the Nyakyeera sub-county youth savings and credit cooperative society in Ntungamo district, according to a State House press release.

The youth, she noted, had a lot of potential and were the only source of hope for their parents and the country in fighting against poverty.

“As long as you are trustworthy, honest and disciplined your enterprises will prosper and poverty will be defeated outright.”

She was happy that the Ruhaama and other areas of the country had formed groups and ready to benefit from the Bonna Bagaggawale (Prosperity for All) programme.

Since the youth were the most affected by unemployment, the Bonna Bagaggawale should benefit them, Mrs. Museveni noted.

In another meeting with leaders from Rweikiniro and Ruhaama sub-counties, the First Lady said although the Government could extend services in health, education and transport, the people needed to work hard to raise their household incomes.

“We want to see self-dependent families in Uganda that have solutions to all their needs. The role of the leader is to be a servant of others.

You should guide your people in the right direction to get them out of poverty.”
