OVER 200 former Amuka militia in Oyam district, came to claim their benefits but found their names missing on the payroll, reports Alex Ocen.

The paymaster, Capt. Richard Okiror Ochaka, said on Wednesday the ex-servicemen were to blame for their woes.

“They were just lazy. They did not for verification. So the team thought they were ghost soldiers and their names were deleted from the payroll.”

Col. Dick Olum led the verification team in February.

The Government paid sh80,000 as terminal benefits to each member of the former auxiliary forces, the Amuka in Lango and Arrow Boys in Teso.

The leader of the aggrieved, Fred Omara, said they would go to court if they were not paid. Col. Olum promised to resolve the issue.
