<b>MUK wins ICT grant</b><br>KAMPALA-Hewlett-Packard, a US-based ICT corporation, has offered Makerere University a $100,000 (about sh170.1m) grant to teach mobile computing. Makerere is among the 15 universities chosen globally from 36, which entered the competition.

KAMPALA-Hewlett-Packard, a US-based ICT corporation, has offered Makerere University a $100,000 (about sh170.1m) grant to teach mobile computing. Makerere is among the 15 universities chosen globally from 36, which entered the competition. The other two African universities selected were Free State in South Africa, and Jos-Jos in Nigeria. “Winning this grant endorses our effort to establish a regional center of excellence in mobile computing and software,” said Deborah Namirembe, the faculty communications officer.

MUBENDE-Politicians should cooperate with civil servants if they are to be effective, the resident district commissioner, Stephen Bewaayo, has advised. This followed a demand by Nabingoola sub-county chairperson, Samuel Kwizera that the senior assistant secretary, Adam Ssentongo, be sacked over disrespecting area politicians. Illegal houses to be razed
KAYUNGA-Town council authorities are to destroy lockups around the taxi and bus parks that were not built according to the town’s plan. The town clerk, Charles Magumba, recently informed the landlords of the decision. He said only storeyed structures were to be built around the parks.
