Nkumba University last Sunday evening became the first Ugandan university to reach the finals of this challenging brain game. The game involves questions from current affairs to geography, general knowledge and history, among others.
Nkumba beat Malawi University to claim a match up against old foes, Egerton University of Kenya, who last year edged them at the quarter final stage. Ben Mwine, the host of the mock quizzes at the universities observed: “I am sure you guys will be out to revenge against your rivals.†Students turned up to support their colleagues but were unfortunate not to watch the proceedings as a live TV link failed.
Nevertheless Celtel and Mwine kept the students posted through phone messages and they could not hide their joy when news of the win came through. All Nkumba students have been invited to cheer their team on Sunday at Club Rouge.
