Former External Security Organisation (ESO) director general Angalefo Maku’ Iga is dead.
ESO chief Robert Masolo said Maku, 49, passed away on Sunday night at Louis Pasteur Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa. “Our colleague has been sick for quite a while and doctors say he died of bone cancer.†“We are making arrangements to return his body for burial,†Masolo added of Maku, who was first admitted to the hospital in February 2007.
Maku replaced David Pulkol as head of the spy organisation in December 2003. He joined ESO in 1993.
