SIX people have been arrested by Kasangati Police Station over alleged vandalism of high-voltage electricity wires.

The suspects were arrested at Magere-Kito in Kasangati, while vandalising the wires some of which had already been cut into pieces of one metre ready for sale.

Isaac Nakulubo, the defence secretary of Magere LC1, said the suspects were not residents of the area and were arrested after a truck brought the wires.

Two bodaboda cyclists were also arrested.

Aloysius Onyait, Umeme’s head of security, said: “Several people have been arrested over wire vandalism and many cases are in court. We are yet to know the final destination of these wires using our intelligence network.”
