TRUE to the old adage, work without play makes Jack a dull boy. Travel agents from all over the country did play during a Brussels Airlines award ceremony at Protea Hotel.

The awards organised annually by the airline gave the employees a chance to shake their bones to Chaka-Chaka and other South African music.

Many abandoned their drinks to join Pierre Declerck, the general manager of Brussels Airlines, who was showing off his strokes to the excited guests.
Declerck said travel agents who have sold more are the ones that are recognised during the agent award day.

“The good relationship existing between the agents and Brussels Airlines is shown through the huge number of business customers coming to support the flights daily.” he said.

Roger Wamara, the airline’s sales manager said every year, travel and cargo agents are recognised for their support and performance the previous year.

Some of the travel agents who received awards in improved passenger agencies were Interline, Tour and Travel Centre, Metropolitan, Africa Travel, Jet Tours, Karibu and Uniglobe Intek Africa.

Others like TMK, SDV Transami, Matka exporters, Flona Dynasty, African Organic got the best overall cargo clients 2007 award, while UTB 2004, Uniglobe Intek Africa and Uniglobe Lets Go Travel took the overall passenger sales 2007.

They recieve certificates and crystal plaques for their contribution towards the increased flights by Brussels Airlines in Uganda.

Brussels Airlines also awarded three staff members, Jacqueline Mayengo, Rita Luyima, and Lydia Nduhura from the different agent companies for their passionate connection and loyalty to Brussels Airlines.
