Mukwano to spend sh100m in eye clinics

THE Mukwano Group of Companies through its A.K Oils and Fats Ltd subsidiary, has earmarked over sh100m for the eye surgical outreach in the Lango region.

THE Mukwano Group of Companies through its A.K Oils and Fats Ltd subsidiary, has earmarked over sh100m for the eye surgical outreach in the Lango region.

The company in partnership with Lira Referral Hospital is conducting eye clinics in Dokolo, Apac, Oyam and Lira districts.

Alykhan Karmali, the managing director, explained that the free eye camp was a reward to the people of Lango region for their commitment to Mukwano Agricultural Project during the last three years. Over 500 people have been operated on during the past few weeks.

“We believe in the well-being of our consumers. Society is very important to our activities.

“This is our reward to the family contract farmers,” Karmali said.

Robert Odwek, the A.K. Oils and Fats Ltd operations manager, disclosed that the beneficiaries of the eye clinics were contract farmers engaged in moderning hybrid sunflower production.
