OVER 60 unlicensed private schools in Mbarara district have been closed. The district education officer, Edward Mbabazi, on Tuesday said most of the affected schools were operating in commercial buildings with poor sanitation. He added the girls’ and boys’ dormitories were close to each other.

OVER 60 unlicensed private schools in Mbarara district have been closed. The district education officer, Edward Mbabazi, on Tuesday said most of the affected schools were operating in commercial buildings with poor sanitation. He added the girls’ and boys’ dormitories were close to each other.
Mbabazi said the schools lacked textbooks, furniture, trained teachers and playgrounds.
The most affected schools were in Kakiika, Biharwe, Bubaare, Kagongi, Rubindi, Kashare, Nyakayojo and Rugando sub-counties (see list below).
