Consultant Mafabi
West Budadiri MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi will never stop amusing people. On Wednesday, he brought a meeting to a standstill. Behaving as a legal consultant for Bukedea county MP Charles Odiman during proceedings of the rules committee investigating allegations that six MPs took a bribe to pass the CHOGM additional budget, Mafabi kept giving chits to Odiman. This prompted the lead counsel, Wilfred Niwagaba, to ask: “What role is Mafabi playing in this committee?” Mafabi did not answer and was not bothered.

Happy Barlyng
Outgoing Danish ambassador Stig Barlyng is a happy diplomat after completing his five-year term in Uganda. Speaking at a function organised by the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association, Barlyng said he was very happy after a long interaction with female MPs, and he had learnt a lot from the opportunity. “I am leaving Uganda in the next three weeks but I am happy I am leaving with an untroubled heart. I am happy I have enjoyed my stay in Uganda,” the envoy said.

Lokeris annoyed
State minister for primary education Peter Lokeris who is always punctual has been a victim of latecomers. During a public dialogue on policy against child labour on Wednesday, Lokeris could not stomach it any more after he had waited for 30 minutes. When the master of ceremony could not end his speech, Lokeris was pushed against the wall. He stood up and said: “Time wastage has become a problem. You came late but now you are here wasting our time. Some of us value time.”

The microphone
Workers’ MP Mary Tunde does not seem to be comfortable with microphones. She amused participants during an advocacy workshop on minority ethnic groups at hotel equatoria on Wednesday when she received a call while presenting a paper before the audience. Instead of switching off the microphone to respond to the call, Tunde held the microphone together with her phone and when she said , “Hello, give me five minutes,” her voice rang out throughout the whole making the participants rock with laughter. Well, it is important to be conversant with these gadgets.
