Nsibambi praise
PRIME Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi is man who knows the importance of giving credit where it is due and when he does, he does it with such generosity. On Thursday at the launch of the first computer recycling plant in Africa on Sixth Street Industrial Area, Nsibambi took time off to speak about his fellow Prof Ephraim Kamuntu, the state minister for industry and technology, it showed on Kamuntu –– a smile on his face. Nsimbabi said unlike other professors who venture into politics only to become a disgrace, Kamuntu was not. “I am extremely pleased that you have not let us (professors) down.

Stern Mbabazi

Security minister Amama Mbabazi can be said to be a man who is security-conscious, or just presumptuous. As MPs squeezed into the tiny chambers of Parliament last Thursday to listen to the State of the Nation Address, due to the large number of NRM MPs, seats on their side ran-out, but many seats were empty on the opposition side, so army MPs Maj. Gen. Elly Tumwine and army commander Aronda Nyakairima took liberties and sat on the empty seats on the opposition-side. No sooner had they sat than Mbabazi came, held them by the hands, and took them to squeeze elsewhere to the laughter of everybody.

Museveni linguist

President Yoweri Museveni has become so obessed with learning local languages, that he can boldly challenge those who were born speaking those languages. During the nation address last Thursday, he kept translating words into several languages, Luganda, Acholi, Runyankore, Lugbara and Madi, to the envy of MPs who knew only their language. “Some of you do not know what I am talking about,” he mused.

Thieves at party
At the People’s Progressive Party conference at the Kiwatule Recreation Centre, the MC amused participants when he told them to be vigilant with their things. The conference had more than 1,500 delegates and because of the big number on the last day, many people had lost property. The MC announced complaints of lost items but none was recovered in spite of him saying: “Whoever took the things accidentally bring them back.”
