THE Omukama of Bunyoro, Solomon Iguru, has asked the Government to grant his kingdom a regional tier system.
He said the system, as passed by Parliament, would develop the region.

“I hear that the Government is reluctant to give us the regional tier system because Buganda rejected it and demanded for a federo system,” the Omukama said last week during his 14th coronation anniversary celebrations in Hoima.

“All the four districts that make up Bunyoro demanded for the regional tier system, just as did the MPs and the kingdom’s supreme council. We should not be denied the chance because Buganda rejected it.”

Flanked by his wife, Margaret, Iguru hailed the Government for passing the oil policy, but added that it disfavoured the Banyoro.

“We have been left out. Foreigners are taking all the jobs in the oil exploration.”
In a speech read by the second deputy premier, Henry Kajura, President Museveni hailed the cordial relationship between the kingdom and the Government.

“For over 20 years now, my government has had a cordial relationship with the kingdom and this has brought about peace, unity and harmony. I salute the king for his wise leadership and guidance.”
