KIWA Industries has acquired a $200,000 (about sh316m) equipment to increase production capacity to satisfy the growing demand.

The firm is a major supplier of clay products in the housing and construction industry. It also deals in the production and sale of roofing tiles, walling, building materials and decorative clay products.

Roy Mutebi, the managing director, said the modern technology from Italy, would improve the quality of its roofing tiles and other concrete products.

“Our sole objective is manufacturing high quality and reasonably priced concrete roofing tiles which are affordable to consumers,” Mutebi explained in an interview at their Nakawa offices.

Mutebi disclosed that the firm would introduce new products including hollow bricks for construction.

He said other products already in the market were wall cladding tiles, floor cladding tiles, road kerbs, facial slabs and wall and floor cladding tiles.

“Over the years, we have been recognised for great success for the quality standards, management and business practices,” he said.

The company received Arch of Europe Award for quality and technology, Century International Quality Era Award from the Business Initiatives Directions in Spain and the Gold Medal for Excellence in Business Practice from the Foundation for Excellence in Business Practice in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mutebi explained that despite adjustments in the cost of production and increased regional demand for construction materials, their product quality had been maintained.
