EDITOR—Makerere University’s recent announcement that they were going to institute a dress code for the students, mainly the female ones, is way off the mark.

The line between being smart and being indecent is very thin and the policy makers at Makerere will have a very tough time defining it!
secondly, the argument is that it is instituted in a bid to control or avoid sexual harassment! just visit any of Kampala’s night spots on a regular campus night! is the code going to extend there too
Are Ugandan men so weak that mere exposure of flesh will drive them mad with passion? Are there no other more helpful policies which the university can come up with?
