Whether you need a bra that will lift the fallen or a corset to bring the love handles together in fellowship, the underwear industry has something just for you. Choosing the right one is, however, a trick.

The bra you hoped would give you some cleavage might instead ruin your look by making your bust seem fit to burst. Well, just read on and you soon will know what underwear works best for you or anyone else on what occasion.

Wobbly thighs and bottom
This mainly affects pear-shaped ladies and those with a fuller bottom. The cheaper and more painless solution for this is the cycling shorts type of underwear. These will smooth out any bumps and hold in all that needs holding in and voila… liposuction-free smoothness.

To hold in any wobbly bits, do not compromise on elastic! Underwear is essentially lycra and elastic panels will firmly hold in your hips and bottom.

To zap that annoying drama going on with your thighs, look for underwear that stops just above the knee. The longer the stretch of lycra on your body, the smoother your silhouette, so don’t skimp on this. Instead, seek it and buy quality!

Note: Avoid high cut underwear as this will divide your bottom and create that unsightly condition of VPL!

Thick or undefined Waist
Boning, and not surgery, is the name of your miracle cure! This is found in corsets which will ‘miraculously’ cinch in your feminine bump and create a smooth, bulge-free silhouette!

Boning, as the name suggests, comes from the word ‘bone’. Your undergarments should have, literally speaking, a skeleton. This means it has a predefined shape, supported by metal/plastic boning, which moulds your curves to its shape.

For less bulk, pick corsets that come with a bra. Sweetheart bra cups are very flattering since they enhance your bust.

Your other miracle solution is a padded bust lifting bra. The trick is to push up and out your bust, and therefore disguise the bulge of your rounded belly. By making the most of your bust, the attention is drawn away from your tum’ to your chest!

Note: Avoid tight elastic, as this will simply divide your belly and draw attention to it. So, your underwear should have a relaxed waistline.

Big Bosom
Support should be your best friend! For starters, you need a bra that fits! All the support your bra gives you comes from the band that lies around your undercarriage. If your straps dig into your shoulders, in spite of constant adjustment, chuck it!

If your bras’ support wire digs into the flesh of your bust, get a bigger bra! If your bra band is riding up your back, get a smaller one.

If your boobs are spilling out of your bra, no matter what you think, it is not pretty, try a larger size!

If your bust is under your chin, burn that bra. If it is at your waist (I shudder!), seriously you need to destroy it bit by bit!

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, the basic rule of thumb is the wire, support and fitted full cups.

Follow the rules and you can even go strapless! Yes you can! I know many girls who dread wired bras but if you get one that fits you’ll be okay.

Avoid the ‘mono-boob’ effect by making use of full cups. Remember, support and fit are what you need!

Note: Because of your fuller bust, you have to be careful how much you show — it could become vulgar, so toe this line with care.

Petite Bosom
Repeat after me: Padded Plunge Bras! These were designed with you in mind. They’ll add volume to your petite assets, literally making mountains out of molehills (as the saying goes!) Angled bra cups are perfect for you, so consider this as you go shopping.

Also consider cheating by using chicken fillets — a small girl’s trick to going up a size! You are lucky that way because you can change your cup size to suit your mood with these handy accessories!

You could also look at halter blouses and the bras that go with them, since halter necks naturally act as a bust booster!

Note: Just because your bust is small does not mean you should skimp on your bras — quality works and lasts longer, so invest in the right undergarments.
