EXCEL Insurance Company has handed over a sh16m cheque to Mathias Bukenya, a Kampala businessman. The claim arose from the loss of a Toyota Land Cruiser car, which was involved in an accident in Ntinda, Kampala in March.

“I reported the accident immediately and since then, the process has been going on until today that I’m receiving this cheque,” Bukenya said.

He thanked the company for their response, which he said had enabled him to acquire another vehicle.
“It is our obligation to pay claims.
“We really want to serve our clients in the earliest possible period,” Dickson Okeeno, the Excel marketing manager, said.

Okeeno, however, asked clients to be mindful of the procedures to be followed.
Francis Rumooma, the in-charge of claims at Excel, said in the last three months, they had settled claims amounting to over sh300m.

The company also in late November paid sh30m in claims to 20 of its clients.
The 20 claims were all from motor comprehensive and workmen’s compensation policies, top officials said.
