ESTHER Mugizi Nabaasa, the Ugandan Tusker Project Fame winner, returned home yesterday to a hero’s welcome. She landed at Entebbe International Airport at 9:45am aboard Kenya Airways and was immediately taken to the VIP lounge, where she hugged family members, friends and journalists.

The overjoyed Nabaasa, donning a brown top and blue tight jean trousers, was guarded by two bouncers, who in their overzealousness, even pushed away her boyfriend, Tony Kajubi.

Nabaasa, a second year engineering student of Makerere University, beat 18 others from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to win sh130m in a music talent search.

The annual Tusker Project Fame reality TV show nurtures music talent in East Africa.

The contestants were placed in the academy and given voice and music lessons. From the airport, Nabaasa was driven to Kampala in an army- green Hummer in a convoy of Mercedes Benz cars and motorbikes.

At Garden City, Nabaasa, accompanied by fellow contestants, assured fans that she would continue with her studies at the end of the dead year and also pursue her new music career.”
