The Jinja SS management should be changed, a stakeholders’ meeting decided last week. Eastern Youth MP Zaake Kibedi chaired the meeting at the Jinja district council hall. Various problems have dogged the school, including financial mismanagement. “How does transparency prevail if PTA stakeholders do not know what is on the account?” the chairman of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), Julius Zziwa, said. Headteacher Moses Mukwaya and board of governors chief Dr. Samson Kintu also attended.

Students urged on conflicts

Students should desist from strikes and address their grievances through proper channels, the Buganda education commissioner has advised. Talking at the Budo SS music, dance and drama contest recently, Paul Ssaaka also advised school authorities to keep communication channels open.

Lwanga awards Namugongo

Kampala Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has awarded Uganda Martyrs’ SS Namugongo with a certificate for their starling performance at the June 3 Martyrs Day. Handing over the certificate to headteacher Dr. John Muyingo at the school recently, Lwanga said the certificate was a token of appreciation for the work at the school.
