UGANDA could lose their grip on the overall East Africa Defence Forces Culture and Sports competitions title in the last two days of the week-long annual event.

Their plot for a second trophy and the overall title suffered further blow when they lost the netball title to Tanzania yesterday.

Kenya won their second title in handball after the cross-country. Tanzania clinched their first laurel in netball when they beat Uganda 46-38. Uganda fell to Kenya 29-26 in handball ahead of a determining soccer match against Rwanda tomorrow.

UPDF football coach Sam Ssimbwa, who is sure to beat Rwanda, watched the netball team succumb to Tanzania and now prays that Tanzania beats Kenya in today’s match to give his side an advantage.

The UPDF teams that started as favourites clinched the boxing trophy on Saturday but find themselves praying for Tanzania to beat Kenya and they win their game against Rwanda to pick the overall trophy.

But given Uganda’s poor goal scoring ability which has seen them score only a goal against Tanzania, Kenya is now well placed to take the football title.

They only need a draw against Tanzania and hope Uganda gets the same result against Rwanda. Kenya beat Rwanda 5-0 to go top of the table on a four goals difference.
