UNLESS soccer governing body FUFA brings forward the date on which they are to sign players contracts with their new clubs, goalkeeper Abbey Dhaira will miss next week’s CECAFA club championships.

FUFA was due to hand out standard contract templates to players and clubs later this month. Defender Joseph Owino and goalkeeper Dhaira cannot play for URA before they sign contracts with their new employers under the new FUFA regulations.

Team manager Edirisa Ssesanga said URA would appeal to FUFA to allow them sign contracts ahead of schedule.

“We are going to represent Uganda in an international competition, I hope they consider our request,” Ssesanga remarked.

URA is set to launch their CECAFA Club Championships campaign against Rwanda’s Rayon Sport in Dar es Salam on July 14. They leave for Tanzania next Wednesday.

The other teams in URA’s group are Denden of Eritrea and SID of Djibouti.

The regional soccer championship sponsored by Rwanda President Paul Kagame and Castle Lager, kicks off on July 12 with Vital’O facing Benadir of Somalia, and Tanzania’s Simba battling Kenya’s Tusker FC.
