UGANDA has won the East Africa Defence Forces Culture and Sports overall trophy with 39 points. Kenya finished second overall despite dominating the individual sports trophies.

They took the football, handball and cross-country trophies in the week-long 4th edition of the annual games.

Uganda’s huge margin in the boxing competition where they collected five gold, two silver and three bronze medals cut into Kenya's supremacy.

UPDF, who were trailing by a point going into the closing soccer match yesterday, surged ahead in the standings after a 4-1 win over Rwanda at Nambole.

Churchill Kamba netted a brace while Ibrahim Jjingo and Sulaiman Sebunza got the other goals. Despite the win, Kenya took the trophy on goal difference. Speaker of Parliament Edward Sekandi, secretary East Africa Community Juma Mwapachu and defence ministers Chrispus Kiyonga and Ruth Nankabirwa watched the closing ceremony.
