MOSES Kibet will be first on the track as Uganda starts the hunt for another World Junior athletics medal in the Polish City of Bydgoszcz today.

Uganda has won a medal in four of the last five championships, the latest being Abraham Chepkirwok’s 800m bronze medal in Beijing in 2006.

Seventeen-year-old Kibet, a younger brother to Abraham Kiplimo—who will be competing in the 5000m — will be featuring in only his third international event. He competed twice in Netherlands last month.

Kibet has a personal best of 3 minutes 46.38 seconds and will have to shave off nearly 10 seconds to beat the Beijing Olympics qualifying time. Uganda has a team of six athletes in Poland that will be handled by Global Sports coach Jurrie Van Der Velden.

Other Ugandans in the six-day event include Geoffrey Kusuro and Abraham Kiplimo (5000m), Stephen Kiprotich (10000m), Benjamin Kiplagat (3000m SC) and Doreen Chesang (3000m).
