On many occasions people run around looking for classy yet durable household furniture, only to be disappointed after a few months when the once good-looking classy furniture starts fading, becoming rusty and cracking. Unfortunately, it could have also gone with a high price.

Peter Mukisa, the director of Kisakye Metal Crafts and Civil works in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb, however, says one will not be disappointed with wrought iron furniture.

Wrought iron furniture, if well-designed, is very appealing. It is also cost-effective because of its durability.

Locally-made items on the market range from candle holders, magazine holders, bottle holders, television stands to sofa sets, beds, tables and chairs. Mukisa says a double bed with detachable cabins goes for sh450,000 and a single-bed for sh400,000.

Wrought chairs with cushions sell at between sh400,000 and sh900,000. The costs are determined by the design and the number of seats. A two-seater garden chair with rubber stands goes for sh150,000.

“Our furniture is made from first-class iron and the furniture, especially the beds are screwed together, making it easy for transportation. Items from most outlets are welded together,” Mukisa explains.

When thinking about enhancing attractiveness and style in your home or even office, wrought iron furniture is way the way to go because of its uniqueness.
