In the Polish City of Bydgoszsc, Kiplagat went into the race as favourite and raced according to plan.
Kiplagat, who on paper had the best time of 8:14.29, battled for long spells with the Kenyans who boost a strong reputation in long distance races.
The Ugandan led the race finishing the first 1000m in 2 minutes 34.51 seconds before he reached the the 2000m mark at 5:23.21.
But this did not deter the Kenyans as Ndiku who clocked 8:17.28 and Patrick Terer (8:25.14) tried to sandwich him.
The duo went on to register new personal bests .
At the home straight, the sprinting battle pitted Kiplagat and Ndiku before the Kenyan won gold, 1.8 seconds better than the Ugandan.
Uganda was represented by six athletes.
