KENYAN Peter Horsey lived up to this pre-event billing to retain the Champions sprint title at Entebbe Botanical gardens on Sunday.

Horsey driving a buggy clocked 9.20 minutes, beating off a stiff challenge by Ronald Ssebuguzi (Mitsubishi Evo4) who got a 10-seconds penalty for a jump start.

Susan Muwonge on her first outing in a newly acquired Subaru N 10, was third, 44 seconds off the pace in the sprint organised by MPU Motorsport.

Upcoming teenage driver Shafiq Semujju (Subaru) and Laila Mayanja (Mitsubishi Evo4) were seventh and eighth respectively in the race that had 22 drivers.

In the night leg, national champion Ponsiano Lwakataka who has been out of action since the season began, clocked 3.01 seconds to claim the King of the Night title.

Lwakataka beat Bob Roberts by one second in a battle of Subaru machines.
