The Anglican Church should remain united amidst controversy over homosexuality, Duncan Gray, an American bishop, has said.

The bishop is in the country to celebrate seven years of the Bishop Masereka Christian Foundation, a Kasese-based charity that looks after AIDS orphans.

The bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi said the church needed to unite and set a good example of conflict resolution and tolerance.

“We have to look at our foundation. Is it homosexuality or Jesus Christ? As his people, we are nourished at his table so that we might live as his hands, feet, eyes and ears; we are his body, one body.

Gay was the chief guest at Sunday’s function hosted by the area MP, Crispus Kiyonga. He laid a foundation stone for the charity’s new hospital and launched its website.
