KKL keeps Gothia Cup chances alive

KAMPALA Kids League (KKL) bounced back with a 5-0 victory over Swedish team Arvidsaur in front of the Gothia crowds on Tuesday. The Uganda U-16 team had gone down 1-0 to Brazilian Academy team Pequeninos in the opening fixture at the main Heden Stadium on Monday.

KAMPALA Kids League (KKL) bounced back with a 5-0 victory over Swedish team Arvidsaur in front of the Gothia crowds on Tuesday. The Uganda U-16 team had gone down 1-0 to Brazilian Academy team Pequeninos in the opening fixture at the main Heden Stadium on Monday.

Juma Balinya struck twice against the Swedes before Ibrahim Juma and Julius Ssenoga (brace) wrapped things up in the second half.

KKL now need to beat Dutch team Der Haague on today to advance into the qualifiers. They are likely to meet Zambian Champions Chiparamba in an all African clash.

This year’s boys U-16 event has been ranked the toughest in the Gothia World Youth Cup 33-year history. KKL has lifted the trophy for the last three years.

Meanwhile Edgars Youth Programme (EYP) boys U-11 lost their second game on yesterday, going down 4-1 to Brommapojkarna B from Sweden. They had fallen to Swedish team Lerums 2-1 in their opening fixture on Monday.
