URA coach Moses Basena will today field the same side that humbled Rayon Sport 4-1 in their opening game. The Ugandan representatives take on Ethiopian outfit Awassa, and can afford a narrow defeat and still make it to the knock-out stages of the regional club championship.

The group B match to be played in Jamhuri stadium of Morogoro, follows a morale-boosting visit by URA team chairman David Sserebe. The players promised to ‘go all the way after they each got a sh1m bonus.

Basena said that he was ready for the short, passing game of the Ethiopians which he will counter with a more physical approach.

“Awassa do not differ much from St. George in playing a quick, short passing game. We need to be fast and harass them with a physical approach,” he added.

“I will expect nothing but a win from my boys.”

Experienced defender, Sam Mubiru, who missed the first game, has recovered but will not start. Awassa boasts of four internationals, Berekane Waku, Daniale Dalela, Bahaine Asefe and Mulugeta Meherete.

Awassa team leader Seyom Goffe said: “We are not worried about URA. We have heard that they are rich because they are sponsored by a national tax body, but we are also a team of Awassa City Council.”
